17. Vintage Carnival of Terror
Tap into the deeply unsettling aesthetic of an abandoned, vintage circus or carnival. Use a color palette of dirty red and white stripes, faded gold, and charcoal grey. Hang a striped fabric canopy over your ceiling or entryway to mimic a circus tent. Create retro-style signs with distressed lettering advertising “The Freak Show,” “Fortune Teller,” or “Ringmaster’s Revenge.” Decorate with creepy vintage-style clown masks, weathered wooden ticket booths, and oversized striped popcorn tubs filled with faux cobwebs.
